CageCalc 2: enclosure calculation for rats
Please choose (basic, advanced calculation or minimal size calculation, not all are available for every animal type):
- Simple calculation of the maximal number of critters per enclosure
- Advanced calculation of the maximal number of animals per enclosure
- Calculation of the minimal enclosure size for a given group size
Notes: Rats are very social animals: always keep (same-sex) groups of three or more together. Keeping a single rat alone without good reason is just cruel; keeping rats in pairs is technically possible, but it is generally not an optimal constellation and can even lead to behavioural disorders in the long run! Groups of males usually are quite as unproblematic as groups of females. A mixed group is still ideal, but this means that the males have to be neutered. Please also consider that rats are very active critters and should be given the possibility to run around freely on a regular basis (daily would be ideal), even if their cage is quite large.
